Was first alternate out of sectional qualifying at Walton Heath in England, but got into the 2010 U.S. Open field when the Memorial tournament winner was not a multiple PGA Tour winner since the last Open.

Rallied from four shots behind with seven holes to play to edge Paul Casey at the second hole of a sudden-death playoff for his breakthrough victory at 2004 Celtic Manor Wales Open

Had started the week with a stunning 61 on the Celtic Manor course

Inspired to take up golf at 12 after seeing Seve Ballesteros win the 1984 British Open at St. Andrews

Played golf for Essex at County level before turning pro at 18
