Player Bio

GRAEME McDOWELL: If you had told me that I would be level par after 54 holes and ten shots behind at the start of this week I wouldn’t have believed you. We didn’t envisage that type of scoring at the start of the – that’s not what the USGA are about but to be fair to them they have set the course up fairly, but I said at the start of the week that I would take level par but that doesn’t look like it’s going to do too much damage.

It’s been a long week for everyone but I am looking forward to getting going and try to post a number in the final round.

I am just about in it. If the leaders come back to five or six under par then I have every chance. It’s a funny golf course because there are definitely 65s out there but at the same time there are also 75s. You don’t wish any ill on the leaders but I’d like to see them come back a bit to me to give me a chance.

I didn’t like the look of the golf course when I first saw but it has got better as the week has gone on. I have driven the ball well and that has been the key. The rest of my game has been solid and I have been scrambling well.

I would like to finish top ten here but I am not looking at the figures at all – I am just going to post as low a number as I can in the last round and see where that leaves me. One of my goals at the start of the year was to get into contention on a Sunday afternoon at Major. It looks like it might be Sunday morning if I am going to be in contention here but I am continuing to get my head around these things and continuing to play better and better golf in the bigger tournaments and that’s all I can ask of myself.”
